How are chemical peels performed?

After a consultation with dermatologist, you will be advised creams for priming skin (preparing for peel), sunscreen use and antioxidant preparation.

It is performed on an outpatient basis in our procedure room. The skin is cleansed to remove excess dirt / oil and a small patch test is performed. Then depending on our doctors assessment , a chemical peeling agent (above mentioned) is applied on area selected for treatment. Most patients experience a warm mild stinging sensation that lasts for 5-10 mins. After a short while they are neutralized.( Some peels require long duration to act, so patients can be sent back home with peel on and neutralized later). A soothing cream is applied followed by sunscreen.

How do chemical peels work?

They produce a chemically controlled wound, enabling new, refreshed skin to appear.

What to expect after peel?

Depending on type of peel, there can be mild redness, followed by very thin scaling in a period of a week. During this time, the advised post procedure care instruction should be strictly followed to avoid any post peel unwanted colour changes.
